Sunbird

Mozilla, the non-profit that developed the Firefox browser, which now has about a 5% share of the browser population, is currently developing a calendar program. Its name is Sunbird, keeping with the animal themed software names. Have a look at their site, where there are screenshots and early builds available for download.
