Human transmission of bird influenza

The avian bird flu (H5N1) has evolved into a form that can be transmitted between humans. In Thailand, it is believed that the flu passed through a young girl to her mother, leaving both dead. Though this is an isolated incident, it is still very worrying, as human-human transmission possibilities could lead to the next great flu epidemic.
