Petrified

Scientists at the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory have developed a process for the petrification of wood. What would normally take millions of years in nature has been shortened down to a few days. The process involves soaking the wood in acid, silica, and then baking it in an argon filled chamber. There are several possible industrial applications.
