Amazon Prime

Today Amazon.com introduced a new yearly flat fee unlimited express shipping option with no minimum purchase. It costs $79 yearly for unlimited two day shipping. This was announced at the same time as their quarterly results. Profit increased, but missed analyst estimates. The shares tanked 17%.

"Amazon Prime is 'all-you-can-eat' express shipping," said Jeff
Bezos, founder and CEO of Amazon.com. "Though expensive for the
Company in the short-term, it's a significant benefit and more
convenient for customers. With Amazon Prime, there's no minimum
purchase to think about, and no consolidating orders -- two-day
shipping becomes an everyday experience rather than an occasional
indulgence."
